Question/ Open Source / Codierung in Windows:
I would like to use Windows XP as OS. Or can I only use Linux or similar open source systems?
Answer / Technical Chief Andreas Steinhauser:
Windows is allowed as OS – we are not interested in the publishing of the entire code (see rules) but the approaches.
Question/ Open Source / Publishing the codes:
Being a University we want to prevent the (military) DualUse of our projects. Are the codes going to be published in total, partially? Is only the jury supposed to get an insight or will we cede all rights to the organisor?
Answer / Technical Chief Andreas Steinhauser:
We do embrace your will not to help the military or other commercial interest. The total copy and commercial exploitation rights will of course remain with you. But we still insist on published sources, so as to allow other participants to have an insight in your work and as the case may be base the further developments on the cognition. Thereby a maximum exchange of the technology and the best possible learning effect are enabled. Of course the military or other commercial companies can use your codes illegally but according to us this doesn’t justify “secret knowledge”. We think it’s fair that the commonality may use the gained cognition at least for pure research purposes.
